Cowtown 2012: 5K

We survived, or I think we did! On Friday after we got done teaching we went up to the colosseum to grab our bibs, and shirts for the 5K on Saturday morning.
We grabbed our shirts and bibs, then headed out, but they did have some pretty neat little booths set up!
On Saturday morning, we got up at about 6:30 (that would be 30 minutes more sleep than I get during the week) and headed to grab breakfast and head to the race!
Here was one of the two Start arches that they had set up! (We got this one on our way back to the car AFTER the race) It was soo packed, and you could FEEL the energy, it was amazing!
There were the thousands of people behind us (this was 20 minutes prior to the race starting) and there were about the same amount ahead of us! We were doing this with about 6,000 people!
We found our pace group, and joined in with them! Our nerves began to get to us!
But we were going to do it!! It was about 34 degrees out, but we were ready!
The first mile felt like it took FOREVER to get through....we started the race by heading up a huge hill, then down a long street and finally after a few turns we saw the mile marker 1 sign!
From mile marker 1 to 2 it was much easier, and it seemed to be a downhill race at that point! It seemed to have gone much faster as well!
Mile marker 3, almost there!!
This light at the end of the tunnel!! The Finish Line!! There were so many people cheering and saying good job, it was so much fun! I want to do more 5K's in the future!!
We finished!! :)
After, all we wanted was water, but all we could seem to find was endless amounts of free beer and ice cream (and our free goodie bag with pb crackers, fruit, and yogurt!) Anyone who knows me, knows that I do NOT drink beer, however when you need something to drink, you just drink it, and try not to smell it lol.
On our way back to the car, we took a nice shot of downtown Fort Worth! It was so pretty! At one point in our 5K we could see it as we came down a hill, it was soo nice! So, overall the 5K was amazing, and I can not wait to do another!! :)

1 Day!!

Its only ONE day until I do my first 5K. I am super excited, yet super nervous! I will post pictures later this weekend! The race is at 8:30 Saturday Morning!

Sorry, my blogging has been lacking, I hope I can get better about it. I have just been purely exhausted!! I come home and lay on the couch and watch TV or go to bed! However, I have really enjoyed my last 3 weeks in the schools, only 9 more to go until I can be certified for graduation! Yikes....May 12th is coming quickly! :) I have so much do do before then, buy my senior brick, invitations, cap/gown, and find a job. On the whole finding a job note, I signed up for 7 school districts that I will be interviewing with in March!  O man soo much to do. Am I stressing, no, not really. I am quite calm about it all, I am enjoying my last semester as a "college student" even though I am doing a unpaid internship of student teaching!

Sorry for the ramblings...that is what happens when I am exhausted, and heading to bed! Cant wait to tell you all about my first 5K!

Lunch Time!

Student teaching has taught me MANY things! One of them is that teachers only get a 15 minute lunch! By the time you get your kids to the cafeteria, and get back to eat you have about 15 minutes before you have to  go back to get them. So, I have been trying some knew lunches! This is a recipe from April!
This is ground turkey, with some peppers onions, and quinoa. Before I toss it in my lunch box in the morning I add a scoop of Pico (slasa kind..).
I can pop it in the microwave, and in about a minute or 2 I have a warm lunch!
Its a super clean recipe that I really enjoy :)

Senior Bucket List! Fort Worth Stockshow and Rodeo

So, my roommate and I, Michelle made a bucket list of things that we plan on doing before we graduate in May. There are 25 things on our bucket list.  The first thing that we have done! (we have actually done 2) Thing #1 to mark off the bucket list is to go to the Fort Worth Stockshow and Rodeo!
We had a few days off the first week of February, so we went to the afternoon Rodeo!
We were so thankful they had other things to drink other than beer! We got wine...at a rodeo!
My favorite part of the rodeo is the Bull Riding! It is so nerve racking but so fun to watch!
After the Rodeo, we hit up the carnival! We split some tickets and hit up 3 rides...the Haunted House, the swings...and...
this spinny thing. Secret about me: I rode this thing like crazy (like 10x in a row) when I was little...I rode it one time at the Rodeo and I was DONE!
We had a blast!
So there ya go! One thing marked of our bucket list! Many more posts to come about our bucket list adventures!

Student teaching...I have survived my first 3 days!

Two blogs in one day! WOW! If you want to see my one from this morning scroll down!

I thought I would tell you about my first few days student teaching.... I am in a 3rd grade class at a local elementry school here. So today, was my 3rd day of student teaching...has it only been 3 days...ohh lord! I absolutely love it, however those who think teaching is easy need to substitute for a day and get the feel of it! They will quickly learn that teaching is not easy!  I sit for maybe a total of 1 hour in the 8 hour school day (10 hours if you count the hours spent before and after school there), eat my lunch in 15 minutes (I must walk the kids to and from the cafeteria), in bed by 930-10 every night, and never finish my beloved cup of coffee until its cold. It DRAINS me. But today is why I love teaching and why I have always wanted to be a teacher. Yesterday was a bit rough, but today was lovely! We still had out share of students misbehaving, but that will happen! Today, I really connected with a few students! I even have a few that think I am as awesome as I think they are!
(sorry its so small click to make it bigger!)
I can not wait for our valentines day party next week! I am planning on making my kids valentines! They are so excited for our party. Today we wrote all of our classmates names down, and many wanted to know how to spell my name...ahh my first Valentines day as a teacher! When I was in 3rd grade, I dont think I was quite as excited for Valentines day, like my students are! But I love to see their excitement for the day! I have survived my first 3 days of student teaching...I am excited for the next 5 weeks with my 3rd graders! Then I get to go back to my firsties who I miss so much, but love seeing in the halls!
Remember to scroll down to see my post from this morning! I am heading to bed, and its only 9 pm!

Whats in YOUR lunch?

So, I started student teaching on Monday, and thats why I am blogging at 6:30am...So I am sharing my typical lunch with you all this morning!
I have a salad, with pine nuts, green onions, and feta. Then in a baggie (so it doesn't get soggy) I have my tomatoes and cucumbers! I also have tuna, balsamic vinegar dressing. Then I pack my afternoon snack of my current fav, Almonds! I also pack a crystal light for my afternoon pick me up. My morning snack is a protein shake! So you can even clean eat when you have a 15 minute lunch. My snack happens during my conference period and then just casually during my afternoon reading group!
So, whats in YOUR lunch?
